Notes:

A correspondent [GJ] reports:
1. In the early 16th century, Mane was used in the Burgh Court records of Selkirk, Scotland [transcribed by the Scottish Record Society] for an "executrice" and hence is a female name.

2. In addition, there are letters in the National Archive of Scotland written a century later addressed to Manie - believed to be a phonetic variant of Mane - which is equated by the NAS to Marion [q.v.].
