Notes:

Irish, Anglicized form of the Gaelic Doireann, meaning "daughter of Finn". [See also Doreen.]

The modern spelling, Dorian, is probably a result of this use as a previously unknown male name by Oscar Wilde in The Picture of Dorian Gray (serialised in 1890/1).
