Notes:

Scottish and possibly English feminine form of Nicholas, from Greek "victory (of the) people".

In the 1841 Census of Aberdeenshire the spelling Nicolas is predominantly female. A correspondent [GB] reports a monumental inscription in Macduff, Banffshire, Scotland where a mother and daughter are both named Nicolas.
