Notes:

French and Spanish form of Nicholas, from Greek "victory (of the) people".  The Spanish spelling has a stress: Nicolás.

Also Scottish: the spelling Nicolas occurs frequently in the 1841 Census of Aberdeenshire, however all but one are female.
